Enhancing Interview Readiness within Constraints
A determined job seeker with aspirations to join the ranks of “Яков и Партнеры” (Jakov and Partners), the esteemed consulting firm that acquired McKinsey&Company’s operations in Russia, came to me to get prepared for the job interview.
The client initially perceived the need to expand her vocabulary; however, during the first session, it became evident that her English proficiency was at the A2-B1 level. The focus shifted from vocabulary enhancement to addressing grammatical complexities and construction nuances.
However, everyone knows that with only two one-hour sessions available it is impossible to improve one’s English level significantly, So, the challenge was to make the most impactful improvements in a short span, knowing full well that significant language level changes are unrealistic within this timeframe.

While significant improvement within two hours was impractical, the client’s confidence in approaching the interview improved. She was better equipped to navigate the language demands of the interview process.
In the end, she passed an English job interview test successfully.
